European Commission approves Proposal on the 7th Framework Programme - by MarcinFilipJedrzejczak 07/04/2005 @ 19:50

On 6 April 2005, the European Commission has issued its proposal for the 7th Framework Programme for research, technological development and demonstration activities (2007-2013). For more information, visit the page of the DG research of the european commission http://europa.eu.int/comm/research/future/index_en.cfm where you can consult the relevant documents (For collaborative research in Socio-economic Sciences and the Humanities, see Annex I, theme 8 , page 31).

The Commission’s proposal accords an important role to and opportunities for the social sciences and humanities (SSH). This is evident both in terms of budget as well as of the range of actions and types of instruments. The proposed budget of 797 million Euros for collaborative research in SSH represents a doubling of the Priority 7 budget per year as well as an extension of its duration from 4 to 7 years. This will be the most significant collaborative SSH research effort ever undertaken at the EU or at the international level. At the same time, the social sciences and humanities can and should participate actively in other parts of FP7, for example in the European Research Council, in research infrastructures and in the enhanced opportunities for international S_"206">

ESOF2006 launches Call for Proposals - by EffrosyniChelioti 07/04/2005 @ 12:22

The 2nd Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF) will take place July 15th-19th 2006 in Munich, Germany.
Scientists, journalists and experts from politics, industry and research can now submit proposals for scientific sessions and outreach activities online at www.esof2006.org until June 15th 2005.
The organisers of ESOF2006 now welcome contributions to the Forum’s programme. The call for proposals is open from March 15th until June 15th 2005.
Proposals for scientific sessions and outreach activities can be submitted online at www.esof2006.org.
To stimulate inspiring submissions, 18 broad themes have been selected. These themes highlight current developments in research and science policy and set the framework for an outstanding conference.
ESOF is a pan-European scientific meeting staged to provide an interdisciplinary forum for open dialogue, debate and discussion as well as showcase European achievements right across the scientific spectrum. Through ESOF, researchers and scientists, as well as journalists and the general public are provided with an adequate platform for exchanging views and discussing the challenges and consequences of scientific developments around the world.

Forum for early career researchers - by Alexandre_Urani 01/04/2005 @ 00:24

A European forum for early career researchers will take place in Otocec, Slovenia on the 6th and 7th may 2005.
This event is jointly organised by MCFA and Ad-Futura, the aim of this forum is to bring together early career researchers and more experienced colleagues from across Europe, from across disciplines, and from a broad range of professional backgrounds to confront their ideas on several subjects of interest for young researchers.
The themes of the forum will mainly be discussed during the working groups. This will enable active participation of the delegates. Workshops are divided into science policy oriented sessions and hands-on training on various soft skills.
Eurodoc will be represented at this forum. For more information, visit this page.
