Strasbourg 2011
For the first time in our history EURODOC will have its members meet in person for a second time in the year, at the mid-term mandate, in order to collaborate on a pool of motions, policy papers, and other ongoing projects.
For 10 years has EURODOC, thanks to information and communication technologies and the high mobility of its members, managed to maintain a respectable level of efficiency by harvesting, analysing, and processing a colossal amount of information on the doctorate in Europe, working in most cases at distances of more than thousands of kilometres from each other.
We have managed to influence decision-making processes in many European policy meetings and to bring pertinent debates and innovative solutions to the negotiating table, answering proficiently to a wide assortment of complex issues.
In spite of this the geographical expanse of our umbrella organisation remains a handicap. Our members work more efficiently when gathered around the same table in the same place, face to face and with the possibility to react dynamically and to bring together pertinent information and brilliant solutions. Gathering our members delivers more strength when it comes to publically addressing the outcomes of our common and collaborative work.
Therefore, EURODOC is organising an additional European event, in order to answer efficiently to the following preoccupations: – speeding up the work processes and enhancing the quality of our expertise, – presenting the international, European, and national communities with the results of the first pan-European survey on the actual situation of doctoral candidates and early stage researchers in Europe.
This public presentation, scheduled for 30 September 2011 at the European Parliament, will be an occasion to gather the key actors of ERA and EHEA around the table to comment on the results and announce their own conceptions regarding the issues expressed in the EURODOC survey
