Accommodation

Eurodoc delegates and administration members will be provided accommodation at studio apartments directly in the city center of Brussels, near the "Grand Place" and less than 1 km from Mont des arts and the Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert. The apartments will be shared between 4 to 6 people. The apartments are modern and provide all amenities, including fully equipped kitchens, bathrooms and complimentary WIFI — (and not to forget, a coffee machine in each apartment). They are located at walking distance from both the railway station (Brussels central station) and the conference location (palais des académies, located next to the royal palace). Rooms for Eurodoc delegates and administration are booked from Sunday evening, the 31st of March until Thursday the 4th of april (4 nights). Towels and linen are included in your accommodation, our aim is to foresee breakfast at the conference location but we’ll make sure that there’s something available in your kitchens as well. As the local organiser, Focus Research will take care of your accommodation thus please inform us about your moment of arrival. If you wish to stay somewhere else during the conference, thank you for informing us and then you reserve your accommodation independently. Additional nights from Thursday onwards will be at your own expense, please inform the organising team if you need any assistance in finding the best available accommodation.

Summary for Eurodoc delegates and administration:

  • Studio apartments have been reserved for you from Sunday the 31st of March untill Thursday the 4th of April (4 nights).
  • The organising team handles your reservation: inform them about your arrival and departure times when you register for the conference (see tab “registration”). Indicate here as well if you have special dietary requirements; our team will get back to you to accommodate your requests.
  • Additional nights can be booked at your own expense, our team can assist you in finding the best available accommodation available.

Travel to Brussels:

From Brussels airport (recommended):

Direct trains run every 15 minutes between the city center of Brussels and Brussels airport and it takes just 17 minutes to reach central station from Brussels airport. Standard ticket price for travel between Brussels airport and the city center is € 8.60 for a single ticket (this includes the Diabolo fee which is charged for travel from and to the airport). There’s no need to buy a return ticket as there is no price difference (return = € 17.20). Any ticket to or from a train station in the Brussels Zone (Brussels North, Brussels central and Brussels south (Midi station) entitles you to travel by train all day between all stations in the Brussels Zone on the date of travel.

Tickets can be purchased up to 31 days in advance but there is no need to do so, there is no seat reservation. They can be purchased from the automatic ticket distributors in the station, at the ticket office or online (www.belgiantrain.be or via the mobile site mobile.b-rail.be/en/). Similarly, time schedules can be found on the journey planner on www.belgiantrain.be.

From Brussels South Charleroi Airport:

You can connect to Brussels South Charleroi Airport from any Belgian railway station. If you select "Charleroi South Airport" as the departure or destination station, you will receive a combined Train + Bus ticket. With this ticket you can travel to Charleroi-South station by train, then take one of the buses on Line A, which provides a direct link between the station and the airport terminal. It takes 1h34m to reach central station from Charleroi South Airport and costs €9.90. The ticket price includes the train and the bus transfer.

Tickets can be purchased at the station, from the automatic ticket machines or the ticket office. There are three automatic ticket machines at the airport near the TEC bus boarding area, on the left of the terminal exit. You can buy a combined Bus + Train ticket or a ticket for the bus only if you already have an SNCB ticket.

Travel within Brussels: no need for public transportation, everything is in walking distance.
