The Young Academy of Slovenia (Društvo Mlada akademija, MA), formerly the Society of Young Researchers of Slovenia (Društvo Mladih raziskovalcev Slovenije, DMRS) was established in 1995. It is a non-profit, voluntary association of doctoral students and early career researchers.
The main aims of the association are encouraging quality in Slovenian higher education, striving for a higher quality of postgraduate studies, promoting and improving conditions for Slovenian science and research, improving the work conditions of young researchers, popularising basic and applicative research and innovation activities, and, of course, bringing together our members. We strive for a generationally responsible research and higher education policy in Slovenia, and for meritocratic criteria of work, rewards, and promotion in all areas of higher education and research activities.
We accomplish our aims by collaborating in the preparation of regulations and by representing the interests of our members in public debates, connecting to similar organisations at home and abroad, collaborating with research agencies and institutions, organising professional and social meetings, and preparing and carrying out other independent projects.
